When you consider inflation, the risk-free rate of return is essentially zero. If you want to make money, you still have to get into the market. In today's market, however, the trend is down. If you buy and hold, you will probably lose a lot of money and/or time. One alternative is to hire a personal trader - one focused on your account.

Daily swings of 5% to 50% are common place - and the ability to take advantage of this with real-time data and direct access to the market, has never been greater - if you know what you are doing, and are careful, you can make money in trading. That is my philosophy. That has been my experience.

Individual Accounts

There are two programs; one for IRAs and non-accredited taxable investment accounts and one for accredited investors. In either case, you open your own separate account at Terra Nova Financial Group. You maintain control, have daily visibility and instant liquidity. The balance will be traded by Place Capital Management. Your accounts are federally and independently insured. There is no lock-up period and no termination fee. You can opt in or out at any time. Very simple! Very cost effective.

Trading Strategies

The market is not random. Even with computers, there are natural levels of support and resistance and there are identifiable trends and patterns. This is the heart of technical analysis and momentum trading. Once you understand this, then you realize that it is a matter of learning to watch, being patient, and acting decisively. Not all trades are winners, but there are several measures that are taken to mitigate risk and improve results.

The principal strategy is a long only, very short duration, daily momentum trading strategy using only liquid common stocks (no OTC, no penny stocks). We do not hold positions overnight. We start each day in cash with a written daily trading plan - this plan requires a lot of preparation. We let the market open while observing about 120 tell-tale stocks and indexes, looking for 1 to 3 opportunities. Time in is generally less than 3 hours. 

The main difference between advisors and traders is that we let the market tell us what to do - if we listen and act accordingly and we are rewarded for it. If you are skeptical, and most people are, then I invite you to come spend more time us.
